We started Thursday night with family in town. The Kiddos got to spend some quality time with their cousins and had a great time as usual.
Friday dawned with the typical spring weather of sun breaks, hail storms, and more sun breaks. Making it hard to plan much in the way of outdoor fun.
I did start the day with a 4 mile walk about town.
We finally got the kids ready to go and headed out to see AP and UG for just a few minutes and then went to Corvallis where we tried to tire the kids out playing at Wacky World. A grand time was had by all.
The three older kids then headed to the OSU Womens Softabll game, where the weather turned out pretty nice. Unfortunately the Beavers lost. The kids did get cool pink softballs and pom poms though.
Kiddo #2 and I headed home. The skies were looking iffy, but I wanted to get in a few more miles for the day so I headed out for what was going to be a just a quick 2 mile walk, but as I got out to the middle of farm land central, I decided I was feeling pretty good and the rain that would come and go wasn't very threatening. The walk ended up being just a little over 8 miles. It was an excellent walk and at my fastest rate yet.
Saturday the cousins had to leave early to make another softball game in Vancouver. My Kiddos were suffering from several late nights and looked pretty happy to get to veg for a bit. TBH was working on new business stuff and the pile of laundry with my name all over it was just too daunting, so I headed to South Eugene to do a couple of letterboxing/treasure hikes on the Ridgline Trail and to the top of Spencer Butte. Got in another 5 miles or so and found 14 letterboxes! Holy Cow - that's a good day. The weather was outstanding and a lot of people were out on the trails yesterday.
And I got home in time to do all the laundry.
Sunday has been even better in the weather department. I was up early with plans to hike the other side of the valley - headed up Mt. Pisgah. Something I haven't done since before getting married. At the last minute Kiddo #1 decided she wanted to come along. It's a steep hike up that mountain and we were passed by any number of people with the same idea. Get to the top and take in the view of the entire valley. It was fun showing her Spencer Butte across the valley. To top off the perfect hike, we found a letterbox that has been hidden up there since 2006. It took us almost an hour to put all the clues together. It should have been much easier - but our paces did not match the placers paces. Oh well. It was a great find - in one of the prettiest places in the area.
At the bottom of the mountain we spent some time in the arboretum and found another great letterbox/geocache. All in all we got in another 5 miles or so.
We headed home so TBH could get in a round of golf. Kiddo's and I headed up Peoria Rd to walk at the Shotgun Bend Wildlife refuge, but it is closed due to the bridge being unsafe. A bit bummed we headed back home, but at the last minute we decided to take a right turn on a road we have never been on and came across an old community church and pioneer cemetery. It was fun to look around there and the location is now home to new letterbox. Go find Picninc Basket!
Now that dinner is done we are going to dye some Easter Eggs. Have a great week!
Ooops - forgot the totals -
