Training has begun....

I am adding training to walk a half marathon to my list. I am still going to run as well for a 5K. My goal is to walk with the Prevention Magazine team at the Las Vegas Marathon.

Today I went a total of 6.78 miles, a little more than a quarter marathon, on the route I biked out last week. Eventually I will do this route twice or try to find a different route that goes longer.

Today - I also hurt. Which suprises me. I have done almost this distance in other workouts, but I guess nothing with this intensity, where I was trying to keep my rate at less the 15:30 minutes per mile. The heart rate monitor had me in my target range for the entire walk.

Yesterday - Kiddo #2 and I hiked Beazell Memorial Forest for about 3 hours. It was awesome. The weather was perfect, the letterboxes outstanding, and the kid walked ALL the way UP the mountain. It was a 3 mile hike and totally worth it. We rocked the rock throwing, stick toting, dirt finding, fun boy stuff.

Finally - I'm going to get a hundred miles this month. After such a slow start - I'm a little surprised by the numbers. I have learned that exercise can be done in bad weather, so there are no excuses for that. I wonder what the heat will be like in just a few short months. Hopefully I will be able to continue with the early morning routine.

So - March Totals to Date:
Miles Moved - 93.23 - only 7 miles to go for a hundred.
Calories Burned - 26355

I'll post an update on weight loss again soon. Keeping that personal for now.
