Today I opted to just try running - no C25K, just a warm up lap and then running until the Garmin said I had done over three miles. At first I thought I would never make it, but what I have heard is true - once you hit about ten minutes it just starts to feel okay.
I was slower than a turtle, but it was still "running" the entire distance.
I have put pressure on myself, because I got a wild hair over the weekend and registered to run an official 5K in June. It's for Girls on the Run and is in Corvallis. Then I got even dumber and posted on Facebook that I was doing it and now a couple of friends have decided to join me. Doh! At least I will have them at the finish line cheering me on, because it won't take them long to realize I am really slow.
I'm not giving up on C25K and will continue to train with the podcasts. Today was about seeing if I could do it. And the answer? YES!
Over the weekend I took a bike ride. I wanted to see how far a route that I have in mind for training to walk a half marathon was. It's a little more than a quarter marathon - so two laps should be perfect for training against.
The next three days I am off of work to hang with the kiddos during Spring break. The weather is pretty junky - so I'm not sure what we are going to do. Hopefully something will come to mind.
