I became a marathoner. Something that two months ago was not even on the horizon of my goals. When I started the whole weight loss thing I hadn't even figured out how to add exercise into my plan. Then walking just seemed to fit. I walked all through the crappy weather of late winter and spring and gradually added distance and other things to make my walking more efficient and faster.
Yesterday - I finished the Portland Marathon. When I started walking and making goals, I wanted to be able to finish a half marathon in December. Things really changed when I started to believe in myself and in the power of me. I finished my first half in July, took a walking class, joined a walking team, climbed several mountains, finished another half marathon, and yesterday became a marathoner.
I will write more later about the experience - but two thoughts from yesterday that I saw along the way.
26.2 is a life changing experience - go change your life!
This is your story, finish it how you want!
The thing about these races and the avearge people who do them - they are great people, all with their own stories. I have so much to capture and put down. Some of the most insipring people I have ever seen. And you know, this is the same at every race I go to.
More tonight...
