Mother's Day weekend started out busy and with disruptions to best laid plans.
One of the things we have done for a couple of years now is to play hookie from our kids on the Friday of Mother's day weekend and go golfing. Not hookie from work - because we both schedule a vacation day. Unfortunately for us, while TBH was taking the kids to school Friday morning a realtor called and wanted to show the house at 3:00 that afternoon. Dang - now we had to clean both the inside and the outside of the house most of the day. We finally get finished about 1:00, thinking we can still sneak in a trip to the driving range, when we learn that kiddo#2 is not feeling good. Oh well. Poor kid had a low fever and the pukies Friday night, was quiet on Saturday and back to full steam ahead on Sunday. We were very vary glad it did not last any longer.
While the boys stayed home on Friday evening, kiddo #1 and I ventured down to Eugene to go to REI. I love REI, but don't go very often, so imagine our happiness to walk into some kind of storewide sale and to find all of the camalbak products on sale for 25% off. Yeah for us. Finished off kiddo #1's birthday presents.
Saturday started bright and early with the 5K CardV run/walk in Corvallis. Kiddo #1 and I were both signed up to walk and we got there plenty early to pick up our shirts and numbers and to mill around and do some people watching. It's pretty cool to watch the serious runners go through their warm ups. These are the guys and gals who finish the race in 16 to 20 minutes. We had a good time and both finished in the top ten of the walkers.
Sunday was another 5K race in Eugene called the Re Run Run. The race supported the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and uses shirts and medals from other races around the country for prizes. A great concept to recycle and reuse left over items from other races.
This time kiddo #1 wanted to run and after being tentative at first, she finally took off on her own, as I just wasn't feeling good with tonsilitis and a cold. She did great and won first place for girls in the fourteen and under category. I was very proud of her. Maybe running will be her thing.
The rest of Mother's day was spent working in the yard with inetermittent relaxing thrown in.
As far as miles go - they are behind April by quite a bit. I'm not sure if I will get caught up or not.
May miles moved: 54.29
Calories burned: 9100
Now for a few pictures...
