I got sick!
The first something major for the entire fall/winter/spring season.
It started with a major sore throat - the kind that feels like you are swallowing glass. I thought - oh it must be strep - I'll hit urgent care, get some meds, and be feeling better in a few hours. 2 hours later (of waiting in GERM central) - a strep culture, test for mono, and it's neither - just a bad viral thing that can take two weeks to get better. But we can give you some nasty pain meds to help with the pain - but they can make you sick to your stomach. YES they can. So not only was I swallowing glass, I got to throw it up too.
4 days of sore throat, overwhelming exhaustion, trying to work from home as best I can, and not exercising at ALL, I am finally on the mend. Monday I had to be in WA for a transition meeting, so no matter what I had to be up and on the road by 5:00. I nearly passed out in the shower, but managed to make the meeting and get home all in one piece. I only had to stop and nap one time on the way home.
Tuesday was my first walking day. I got in just a few miles. Today was much better. I ran 5K with my fastest miles yet.
Tomorrow is kiddo #1's big birthday. Double digits. I think I will call her "one oh" tomorrow. She's not really getting any big surprise gifts - since she knows about her really awesome new bike. I have just a couple of small things tucked away. We will be headed to Hood Canal on Friday to see Manny and Papa, golf, hike, and take the ferry over to Seattle. I think this will become a birthday tradition. Free golf, great people, and lots of fun to be had.
Before we head north on Friday, we are having just a couple of girls get together to paint pottery after school tomorrow. It's a first for us to do a small group and I am very much looking forward to it.
Only two more weeks of school - yeah! The first weekend in June is another 5K and then on Sunday we are celebrating Uncle Gary's, kiddo #1's, and my birthday with a afternoon bar-b-que. Can't wait. Mom and Cindy and hopefully cousins will be here too.
I will update numbers when I get back from WA. I have some great hikes planned and will hopefully pull in some miles. Because right now - May is looking pitiful!
