Went for a great hike in McDonald Forest on Wednesday. I started at what I think is called the Adair Gate. It's across Hwy 99 from the little market and restaurant, just before you turn into Adair. It was a lovely 5.2 mile hike with half of it being a nice steady uphill climb. Which was perfect becasue that was my goal. I need to start getting in some elevation gain on my hikes to really prepare for some more difficult half marathons. Not many are as flat and fast as Cobrug was.
It's a beautiful hike through different aged forest stands, you go buy the old Cap House - a perfect location for a letterbox, then down hill to Cronemiller Lake - where the timber team practices - another great place for a letterbox. Letterboxing friends - there will be boxes on this route soon. A great five mile hike for those getting in treasure hike miles. Then back down to the parking area.
I set a pretty good pace and really enjoyed being out in the cooler weather.
Tuesday was a much warmer walk on my standard seven mile route.
I have decided to join a walking group in Eugene. My first outing with them is on Sunday. We are going on a hike in the Cascades - near Sisters. Can you believe me? Joining a group of women I don't know - car pooling with them - hiking with them. That is so not me - or is it the new me?
