Well after spending three days with the girl scouts in WA, I am now headed to Canyonville, OR for two days to attend the annual OSAF meeting. That should be interesting, since I'm sure the huge layoffs from Weyerhaeuser will be the main topic of conversation. There is a lot of emotion wrapped up in all of that for me, and for now that is where it will stay. I am very thankful to still be working and know that we have a long road ahead of us until some kind economic recovery will kick in. It is very gratifying to know that we have leadership support for our business, but very sad to say goodbye to some excellent people.
One bright spot - mom is coming up to spend the night with me. I love some good old fashion one on one time with my mom!
I will head back home Thursday night and then take off Friday morning for Walla Walla. Staying with my brother and family for the night and then Cindy and I will head to Spokane on Saturday with her friends to be ready to walk Bloomsday on Sunday. I am so excited to get my first race numbers. Just hoping that I can keep up or that I don't slow everyone down. I have first race jitters.
Will probably throw in a hike along the gorge somewhere on the drive out to Walla Walla. Hoping the rain might be going away by then.
I will be home all next week - but have a couple of things planned for Mother's day weekend. On Saturday morning Kiddo #1 and I are going to do the CARDV (Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence) 5k walk in Corvallis. Then head over to the Humane Society for a tour and to present the things she has been working on for her Bronze Award community service project. I hope to be able to just relax on Sunday and will probably need to spend some serious time on getting this house back into shape. If the weather is nice - I might try doing something with the block of dirt in the front of our house.
We took care of ordering Kiddo# 1's birthday present yesterday. I can't wait for her to get it on her birthday!
