On the same theme as yesterday - I had planned to hike the Ridgeline Trail near Eugene and finish another Team Springamajack series called the Dead Postal Society. The added bonus to this was that since I first tried the hike (with the hole family) they had replaced the second box which had gone missing.
We found the first box back in early summer, but decided that due to the poison oak, this one just wasn't a good idea for the kiddos and called it quits after the first box.
The other parental unit was a dear today and took the kiddos golfing this morning - yes kiddo 3 and kiddo 8 love to golf - and are getting good. Nothing over par 3 yet. But everyone still has fun.
So after a late start this morning I head to south Eugene and to the Ridgeline Trail head. A short two mile round trip hike (at the most).

This place is just lovely - but has a fair amount of poison oak, so be warned. I have a little spot already coming out on my forearm. That would be from all the searching that I did trying to find that replaced box #2. For the life of me I could not locate it, so I went on to the third box. Found it quickly. Came back and looked for #2 again, still no luck. Decide to head up the trail to box #4. Again pretty quick find, clues were perfect.
Along the way - spotted this lovely evidence of nature at work:

And after finding box #4, headed back to the trail and tried again to find that elusive box# 2, but I just couldn't get it done today.
So - needless to say I didn't quite finish what I started today, and there is that little pang of regret. Not sure if I will find my way back to that trail anytime soon, but hopefully I will get that box someday!
